2026 Google Product Category Tool

Quickly Find the Best Google Product Category for Your Shopping Feed

Optimizing or creating your own Google Shopping Feed? Looking for a quicker way to find the best, most relevant Google Product Category for your products?

It can take a while to command+F yourself through Google's sheet of possible categories and you always wonder if you picked the most relevant choice. Because manual categorization can be somewhat of a tedious task, we have created a tool to quickly find all relevant categories for your products based on keywords. This will allow you to quickly pull and scan all options for multiple keywords to optimize your shopping feed.

How to Use Our Google Product Category Finder

Product Categories are a predefined part of Google's product taxonomy, which organizes products into a hierarchy of categories. When you submit your product feed to Google Merchant Center, this information helps the platform understand what your products are and when they may be relevant to shoppers.

Use our tool to help find the most relevant categories to use:

  1. Copy the spreadsheet - Click the button below and make a copy of the sheet.

  2. Search for your product - Edit the yellow cells (A2 and E2) to see any Google Product Categories that contain these keywords.

  3. Choose the most relevant category - Review the available options and select the one that most accurately describes your product type. Example: A men's undershirt belongs under Apparel & Accessories, but the most specific category would be Undershirts rather than the top-level category Shirts & Tops.

  4. Add the category to your feed - Add the corresponding category value to the google_product_category attribute in your product feed.

Enjoy never having to search through that Google file again!
